Specializing in medical-psychiatry interface areas such as factitious disorders (Munchausen Syndrome), depression, chronic pain, post-traumatic stress disorders and somatic symptom disorders including conversion disorders.
Dr. Eisendrath is a board certified psychiatrist with extensive clinical, administrative, and forensic experience. He has more than 36 years of practice. His clinical work has focused on mood disorders, post-traumatic stress disorders (PTSD), chronic pain, somatic symptom disorders (e.g. somatization disorder), and factitious disorders (Munchausen Syndrome). He is the co-editor of The Spectrum of Factitious Disorders, the core textbook in the field. His recent focus has been evidence-based psychotherapies and psychopharmacologic treatment. He has been a pioneer in the care of individuals with treatment-resistant depression and has served as the principal investigator for several studies for this condition. His research pioneered the use of mindfulness-based cognitive therapy for these individuals. He is also the editor of Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy: Innovative Applicationsand author ofWhen Antidepressants Aren't Enough: Harnessing the Power of MIndfulness to Heal Depression.
Dr. Eisendrath is based in San Francisco and received his M.D. from the Medical College of Wisconsin. He completed his residency at the University of California-San Francisco and went on to serve on the faculty there as a practicing clinician, educator, and researcher.
